Who we are

In Namibia, Shell is in the early stages of exploring for oil and natural gas and therefore has a small representative office, in Windhoek. We have four staff members, three of whom are Namibian. We also work with expert Shell colleagues from around the world. Vivo Energy Namibia, which markets and distributes Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, employs around 78 permanent employees. Together we work across a range of activities to help provide the energy and products that we all need.

Leader Spotlight: Edward Walugembe – Managing Director, Vivo Energy Namibia

“I want us to remain number one in our market”

 An engineer by profession, Edward holds an Honours degree in Civil Engineering from Makerere University and an MBA from ESAMI Business School. He joined Shell in 1998 as an Engineer. Edward then moved into lubricants and thereafter into commercial sales. When Shell transitioned to Vivo Energy, he moved into retail.  He characterises Vivo Energy as an organisation with a real thirst for growth, a very dynamic company, with great growth ambitions and that empowers the Operating Units (OUs) to play significant roles in their respective markets.

As Managing Director, Vivo Energy Namibia, Edward sees his role as the engine that will drive growth for the company. Having tasted early success in helping his Operating Unit (OU) to maintain its number one position in the market, Edward is inspired and determined to ensure that he continues to do all he can to maintain the lead.

Staff Spotlight: Charmaine Indongo – Vivo Energy Namibia Retail Manager

“Prioritize self-improvement and performance”

Charmaine holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with specialisation in Strategic Management and Marketing. She has also completed various management certificates, including the management development programme at the University of Stellenbosch Business School, and is currently pursuing her Masters’ Degree.

Most of Charmaine’s professional experience has been within the petroleum industry. Having spent over eight years initially with Shell Namibia, and now with Vivo Energy Namibia, as the Retail Manager, her core function is retail network expansion.

She started off as a marketing implementer, focusing on retail business expansion and later the commercial part of the business. Soon after she was identified and developed for the role of the Marketing Manager. Within a year and a half, Charmaine was moved into a further development programme, where she was prepared for the current role of Retail Manager.
