Building Long Lasting Relationships
At Shell Namibia, partnerships are more than projects, they’re long-term commitments built on trust, transparency, and shared progress.
On 11 August 2025, Shell Namibia Country Chair Eduardo Rodriguez, in his capacity as Chairperson of the Namibia Petroleum Operators Association (NAMPOA), together with the NAMPOA board, led a high-level engagement with Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, President of the Republic of Namibia. The delegation included the Vice President, Prime Minister, senior Cabinet officials, as well as advisors from the Upstream Petroleum Unit and other key ministries, reflecting a collective commitment to advancing Namibia’s energy sector through partnership and dialogue.
The meeting focused on aligning petroleum sector efforts with national priorities, covering local content, skills development and infrastructure planning.
On 16 July 2025, Shell’s senior leadership team, including Eugene Okpere, Executive Vice President for Exploration, Strategy and Portfolio and Nisrine Al-Kadi, newly appointed Vice President for Heartlands and Namibia, visited Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, President of the Republic of Namibia, for a courtesy meeting. This engagement reaffirmed Shell’s commitment to Namibia and its people and highlighted the value Shell places on collaborative relationships with national leadership as the foundation for lasting partnerships and shared progress.
Shell re-entered Namibia in 2014 and is now the largest deepwater investor, with over $1 billion invested and nine wells drilled. Reflecting on this partnership, Eugene shared:
“When we consider investment in exploration, it’s always a high-risk game. We pick areas where we believe there’s an investment climate and a government that wants to work collaboratively in exploring for the resources while we take the investment risk and that has been our experience with Namibia.”
