Fueling Young Minds: How Vivo Energy Namibia is Inspiring the Next Generation

In the heart of Namibia’s industrial landscape, a different kind of energy was surging this past Thursday. On February 19, Vivo Energy Namibia’s Corporate Department and the Windhoek Depot team hosted a landmark "Helping Hands" initiative titled “Fueling Young Minds.”

The mission? To pull back the curtain on the fuel retail industry for 50 bright learners from Aris Primary School and Golden Hills Primary School, many of whom were stepping onto a service station forecourt for the very first time.

Beyond the Pump: A Masterclass in Motion

The day wasn't just a tour; it was an immersive classroom experience at the Lafrenz Service Station and Training Centre. The learners were guided through the vital "cogs" that keep Namibia moving:

  • The Forecourt: A deep dive into pump mechanics and the non-negotiable safety protocols that protect every customer.
  • Maintenance Hubs: Hands-on observation at the lubes bay and carwash, demonstrating the technical side of vehicle longevity.
  • The Logistics Journey: An interactive session tracing the path of fuel from the tankers at Walvis Bay across the vast inland stretches to the local tank.
  • Quality Control: A live fuel-testing demonstration by experts, proving that "Shell quality" is a science, not just a slogan.

While the technical knowledge sparked curiosity, the impact of the day was felt most through the spirit of the "Helping Hands" program. In partnership with KFC Namibia, the students were treated to a classic lunch, ensuring the day ended with as much joy as it did information.

Recognizing that education requires the right tools, Vivo Energy Namibia provided each child with:

1. Stationery kits to support their classroom journey.
2. Brand-new school shoes, ensuring they can walk toward their future with confidence and comfort.

This initiative serves as a reminder that the next generation of engineers, logistics experts, and entrepreneurs are sitting in our primary schools today, just waiting for a spark of inspiration.
