Shell at the Namibia International Energy Conference 2024
Suzanne Coogan, Shell's VP for Namibia, welcomed attendees to the Namibia International Energy Conference that took place from 23 -25 April 2024, emphasising the importance of vibrant discussions on critical energy topics in Namibia and Africa.
The event gathered policy makers, energy leaders and industry professionals from across the African continent and beyond. This signals the excitement around the vast opportunities that the energy sector offers in Namibia. She highlighted that “Developments across the energy sector are moving fast in Namibia, but one thing remains constant. That is the importance of partnership and collaboration”.

The new Country Chair of Shell Namibia, Eduardo Rodriguez delivered a keynote address at the Namibia International Energy Conference 2024.
Eduardo highlighted how Shell has worked at an unprecedented pace and scale to understand the license, including both the volumes of resources in place and the development potential.
“Since drilling our first well Graff in late 2021, which established a working petroleum system, we have drilled six exploration wells - the most recent of which, Enigma, being a further discovery - three appraisal wells and completed two complex flow tests. This pace is thanks to the support of the Ministry of Mines and Energy and close collaboration with our key business partners including Odfjell drilling who operates the rig we have been using. Together we have been able to safely operate year-round with top quartile drilling performance across all comparable industry benchmarks.”
Eduardo Rodriguez“Today in fact marks 470 days at goal zero – Shell’s measure for safety with no harm to people or the environment. A particularly impressive achievement in a Deep Water frontier environment".
