Shell Namibia Country Chair joins panel at Cirrus Investors Conference
The Cirrus Investor Conference, held from April 8-11, 2025, brought together capital market players, business leaders, and key figures in the Namibian economy. Shell Namibia Country Chair, Eduardo Rodriguez, participated in a panel discussing industry status, local content strategies, and sovereign wealth funds.
Sharing his expertise on local content, he emphasized the need for a competitive and efficient business environment to attract International Oil Companies (IOCs) to Africa's oil and gas reserves. He highlighted simplified approval processes, transparent governance, and sustainable partnerships between IOCs and local businesses as key factors for workforce development and investor confidence.
He also discussed preparing Namibia's workforce and suppliers for oil and gas development through comprehensive databases and a local content policy to improve investment conditions and infrastructure.
Building on this vision, Shell is committed to making a lasting, positive impact in the countries where we operate, including Namibia. For us, local content is not just about meeting regulatory requirements or paying taxes and royalties; it’s about fostering sustainable economic development. A phased approach to local content, coupled with transparent governance and supported by a stable political environment, is key to building investor confidence.
