Uncovering the Depths: Shell’s Insights in Petroleum Geoscience for Deepwater exploration

Aligned with Shell’s dedication to knowledge sharing and career growth for young talents, Shell hosted an interactive two-day technical workshop on 25 - 26 July 2024.

The event welcomed Geology Students from the University of Namibia (UNAM), employees from NAMCOR, and technical teams from the Ministry of Mines & Energy. Led by Shell Namibia’s Principal Exploration Geoscientist, Rikkert Moeys, the workshop sessions centred on drilling readiness and well maturation processes.  "Very well taught. Interactive workshop. Great material and great delivery. Well done!" expressed by one of the session’s attendees.

Shell’s newly appointed Trainee Geologist, Lenathe Hailaula, shared her positive feedback, “I am grateful to have been part of the attendees, and as a student and Shell new joiner, I found this workshop to be quite insightful and learned a lot about general deep-water drilling operations, geohazard assessment, and Mudlogging.”

Through their staff, Shell is committed to nurturing the next generation of industry leaders by offering valuable insights and guidance. The feedback from this workshop has been overwhelmingly positive, and Shell is keen to build on this momentum.

Looking ahead, Shell plans to organise more of these engaging and informative sessions in the near future, as part of our ongoing efforts to create a knowledgeable, skilled, and dynamic workforce capable of leading the industry into a brighter, more sustainable future.
